Start with opening, gifting or collecting sealed
For an opening, compare the packs and total delivered cost. For a gift, themed accessories and presentation may matter more. For a sealed display, check the packaging photographs, corners and wrap. There is no single best format for every collector.
Booster boxes and bundles
A booster box is a display of packs from a particular release. A Booster Bundle is a separate, smaller product format. Check the exact listing for pack quantity and language instead of assuming every box contains the same number. Some expansions do not have a standard booster box, so other sealed products may be the available way to buy packs.
Elite Trainer Boxes
An Elite Trainer Box combines booster packs with themed accessories. The contents depend on the release. Read the list of included packs, promotional cards and accessories before comparing prices. A standard ETB and a Pokémon Center edition can look similar while containing different items; the expansion name alone does not identify the edition.
Compare like with like
Match the expansion, language, edition and seal condition. English and Japanese releases can differ in pack format and card lists. If your goal is one particular card, compare buying that card directly with the cost of opening random packs. More packs do not promise the card you want or a return on what you spend.
Packaging and delivery
Factory sealed means unopened; it does not automatically mean flawless outer packaging. Ask about marks or dents if you plan to display the box.
